“Called To Be One”

We live in a culture that tends to idolize marriage, parenting and family life, and places a stigma on those who feel called to live a life of singleness. In this sermon, we seek to change our perception of what it means to live the unmarried life. The apostle Paul lived the single life in a culture that did not honor that. In fact, it was a culture that assumed something was wrong with you if you were not married by a certain age. But, in 1 Corinthians 7, Paul speaks to the power of being single. He exalts the single life as a special and high calling. He speaks from a very personal perspective on the great advantages of living the unmarried life. He admits that it is not for everyone. But for those who are called to it — there is no higher calling.
